Born and raised in Osaka, Japan, Yukihiro Shoda is an artist and director known for his visually impactful and experimental approach to storytelling. After studying architecture and design at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, Shoda began creating films on his own, kicking off his career as a film director. He has worked on a wide range of projects ranging from music videos, commercials and short films including his installation art-film KAMUY which was exhibited in Tokyo and Miami, receiving many accolades and media attention. In his work, he often examines topics such as how we define humanity and relate to the world around us. His sense of humor plays with the boundaries of disturbing and comedic, while his imaginative way of thinking creates worlds that are at once unsettling and mesmerizing.
