Ricardo Souza is a young and ambitious award-winning director known for his bold and courageous visual style. Born in the outskirts of São Paulo, Ricardo strives to tell authentic and compelling stories that reflect the true essence of Brazilianness and the realities of racial issues in Brazil. His dedication to his craft has earned him collaborations with prominent music artists such as AnittaBoombeatDjonga, and Dexter.

Ricardo’s innovative approach to storytelling is exemplified in his work on Anitta’s Funk Rave, which won him the MTV VMA award for Best Latin Music Video. Additionally, he received the Whext New Director Award for his exceptional contributions to the industry. Among his notable works is 20/20 Negro, which was selected by both the Atlanta Black Pride and Bijou Film Festival.

In 2020, Ricardo founded BTFLY COLETIVO, a post-production collective, further showcasing his commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration. He is currently represented by Saigon Filmes in Brazil, continuing to push boundaries and inspire through his groundbreaking work.
