about the jury
Katelin Arizmendi grew up in Oakland, California but has been living in Brooklyn, NY for the last 10 years. She attended UC Santa Cruz for an experimental film study, which was very heavy in film theory. Following that she received a Master in Cinematography at Academy of Art where she fell in love with shooting 35mm and 16mm. Her first feature, Cam, was a 2018 Blumhouse film. Her second film, Swallow, was well received at Tribeca Film Festival, nominated for the ASC Spotlight Award, and nominated at Camerimage for Cinematographer’s Debut in 2019. She photographed a Sony Pictures film titled Charm City Kings which won Ensemble Cast at Sundance in 2019. Her most acknowledged film, Monica, earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination in Cinematography and premiered at Venice Film Festival in 2022. Her latest, National Anthem, premiered at SXSW and TIFF and is to be released in theaters this April 2024. In 2022, she spent most of the year shooting Succession S4 (Episodes 2, 4, 6, 8). She feels passionate about collaborating with directors who carry bold and boundary pushing visions, unafraid of challenging audiences and inspired to experiment with visual language.
